Kearny, Neb. (1865-1968) and Benton Barracks, Mo. (1864-1892); information on Beshoar's successful and failed business ventures: Snake River Land Co., Standard Brick Company, coal mining, railroads, publishing; his political career as state legislator, county judge, and school superintendent. Some medical practice related correspondence provides information on birth control issues being faced by rural women and sexually transmitted diseases affecting men in the late 19th century. Also includes some papers of wife, Anna "Annie" Elizabeth Beshoar.

Trinidad, Colo. physician. Born in Lewiston, Pa. on Feb. 25, 1833. Began medical practice Pocahontas, Ark. Served as both a member of the confederate and union armies during the Civil War, later served as a military surgeon based in Neb. and Mo. Moved to Denver, Colo. (1868) and eventually relocated to Pueblo and then Trinidad, Colo. (1879). Served as county coroner, Colo. state representative, and school superintendent of Los Animas County, Colo.
